The McKenith’s wedding ceremony and reception was a beautiful showcase of how The Grand 1401’s spacious Grand Ballroom, which accommodates up to 550 guests, can be transformed into an intimate and elegant setting for smaller weddings. With 190 guests in attendance, we designed a layout that balanced comfort and intimacy while maintaining the grandeur of our venue.

Creating an Intimate Atmosphere in a Grand Space

One of the standout features of the McKenith wedding was the strategic use of draping to section off different areas of the ballroom. This allowed us to create a dedicated ceremony area that comfortably seated 128 guests. By using drapes, we were able to create a sense of intimacy within a larger space, ensuring that the ceremony felt warm and personal without losing the elegance of the grand setting.

Upon entering the ballroom, guests were greeted by a beautifully arranged ceremony area, completely separated from the reception space by flowing white drapes. This not only maintained an air of mystery but also heightened the anticipation for what was to come. Once the ceremony concluded, the drapes were opened, revealing the reception area where guests had immediate access to the bar. This seamless transition created an excellent flow for the event, ensuring guests remained engaged and comfortable throughout the celebration.

A Unique Ceremony and Reception Experience

The McKenith wedding was a perfect example of how couples can think outside the box when planning their special day. By creatively using draping to separate the ceremony and reception areas, they were able to offer their guests a unique and memorable experience. This layout not only added an element of surprise but also ensured a smooth transition from ceremony to reception.

Simple Yet Elegant Décor

The McKeniths opted for a decor style that perfectly complemented the grandeur of the ballroom while keeping things simple and sophisticated. White linens, paired with navy blue napkins and natural floral arrangements, added a touch of timeless elegance. The floral centerpieces, a mix of high and low designs, added dimension and visual interest to the room without overpowering the clean aesthetic.

The draping not only served a functional purpose but also elevated the ambiance by adding depth and softness to the space. Together, the linens, floral arrangements, and draping created a cohesive look that highlighted the ballroom’s architectural beauty.

Adding a Special Unique Touch

To add an extra special and unique touch, the McKeniths included marquee signage at the historic Warnors Theatre across the street. This feature added a personalized and charming element to their wedding day, and it’s a unique offering that can be added on to your event rental at The Grand 1401.
